Red Devils Trip Panthers
September 16, 2009 By Denis Vass of Graham High School
After a mysterious "offside" call on which a goal had been scored in the first half that nullified the goal, Graham's Kasey Withers pushed a shot past Orange's Hunter Joyner for the game's only score in the 63rd minute mark to lead the Red Devils to their 1st win of the season in a non-conference match up. Wither's goal was not without controversy, as the other sideline judge also initally called for an offside, before a conference with the referee resulted in the goal being allowed. Graham had 16 shots to Orange's 10. Graham's keeper Luis Camacho recorded 7 saves. Camacho made several spectacular saves in the match. Graham's defense played an extremely efficient game as they kept the Panthers away from the goal area a majority of the game. With the win, Graham improves to 1-3-2 with conference play to begin. Graham will travel to Yanceyville to take on the Bucs of Bartlett Yancey today. |
